Big Walk Leg 3

Big Walk to Little Schools Leg 3

Bude, Cornwall to Barnstable, Devon

Catherine was amazing and so engaging! The children have come in obsessed with finding out more facts about the animal and are very excited to see which 2 books we will be sent. We’ve looked at catherine’s website, taken part in the drawing/colouring activities and looked into more of her books! Thank you for such an amazing workshop!

Setting off from Bude into the rain on the first day back on the trail. All gear good apart from very soggy feet… so boots will go back for an exchange! First day using walking poles (was very sceptical) but loved them, especially reassuring walking through a field of cows. Walk to the spectacular Hartland Quay and on to the picturesque town of Clovelly before arriving in a colourful but wet Westward Ho! to pick up a friend and walk on to Bideford. A really lovely welcome in Bideford Library. Super keen children who had walked from school 40 minutes to the event. Lots of questions and drawing - some spectacular hedgehogs. Delighted to find a display of many of my books in the library for children to borrow.

Walked along the Tarka Trail in hot sun to Barnstable Library for a schools event where children drew a platypus, we talked about wolves, water, reading and animal classification. So, out of Cornwall now and onwards through Devon!
